Switzerland: Expensive??

Much has been said about the cost of living in Switzerland, are things really that expensive?

Consider these figures:

Mcdonald's value meal: 11 Frs
Bowl of white rice at chinese restaurant: 3 Frs
Train ticket from Zurich to Lausanne: 75 Frs per person
Cost of local call using a mobile phone per minute: 0.39 Fr / min
Meal of the day at university hall (plate of rice with curry for example): 7.50 Frs
Grilled salmon with potatoes at café: 25 Frs

Quelle horreur! What would think that the city is unlivable.

Now consider some other figures:

Gourmet Bread: 2.60 Frs
Evian water (1.5L): 1.15 Frs

The Evian water is really cheap here.

(note: Evian water is produced at Evian les Bains, a town just across Lausanne, across the lake geneva in France)

Some things are not really too expensive.

The moral of the story is that the cost difference between eating out and eating is wider en Suisse compared to back home.
