Trains in Switzerland

Much of the past week has been spent traversing the terrain of the neutral country, on train.

What is noteworthy about the regional trains are,

1. Trains are always punctual. Now when I say punctual, I mean punctual to the minute. If it is supposed to come at 11.36am it will come at that time , to the minute.

2. Swiss trains are expensive. Now you pay a price for timeliness with fares from Zurich to Lausanne at 75 Frs.

3. Did you know that the regional trains have washrooms in them that function like those found in the planes?

4.How do you know that it is a swiss train. Well, you know it when the train carriages display the 3 names of the rail company (SBB, CFF and FFS) in german, french and italian respectively.

In the Swiss Romand region, that is the french speaking part, the company is know as Chemins de Fer Federaux
